In the case of injuries to several organ systems, such as the skull/brain/nervous system, musculo-skeletal system, gastrointestinal system, genitourinary system, cardiopulmonary system, etc., patients undergo interdisciplinary rehabilitation in our clinic (usually in the neurological rehabilitation or orthopaedic and hand rehabilitation departments). Additional specialists are consulted depending on the injuries involved. The corresponding follow-up examinations of the injured organs are carried out by the relevant specialists. Fractures and injuries of the musculo-skeletal system, for example, are evaluated by physicians using X-rays and clinical examinations, and the resulting prescriptions for treatment are forwarded to the interdisciplinary treatment team. Similar procedures are followed in neurological rehabilitation: appropriate specialists such as neuropsychologists or speech therapists are involved in target-oriented treatment in the relevant stages. Depending on the injury, various assistive devices are used to facilitate the patient's rehabilitation, such as wheelchairs, casts or braces, canes and crutches.
